Purpose of Test: The HBsAg assay is used for the qualitative detection of hepatitis B surface antigen in human serum and plasma. The assay is used to identify persons infected with HBV and to help prevent transmission of the virus by blood and blood products and is also used to monitor the status of infected individuals in combination with other hepatitis B serological markers
Method: Abbott ARCHITECT: automated chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA)
Minimum Sample Requirements: 300μL serum/EDTA plasma
